DESCRIPTION
* Summary of Responsibilities: The Nurse Practitioner will manage the operations of campus health services-overseeing nursing care, communication, financial management, and actively participating in direct patient care and the direct supervision of other health services employees.
* Essential Responsibilities: (These essential responsibilities are those the individual must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.)
* Nursing Care:
* Oversee the administrative aspects of the Health Services Office in terms of development, budget, record keeping, and publicity while updating policies, standards and objectives annually.
* Diagnose and treat chronic and acute episodic illness.
* Write prescriptions and perform and order laboratory and diagnostic testing as needed.
* Treat minor injuries and lacerations.
* Perform health histories and administer medications and injections.
* Recommend and refer to community resources to meet student needs.
* Communicate with faculty members and legal guardians in the event of a serious illness or injury of a currently enrolled student.
* Coordinate annual Health Fairs and develop and schedule seminars on health related issues.
* Provide or arrange first aid, CPR, and AED training to selected staff and students.
* Maintain and review current medical records on students.
* Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
* Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
* Purchase medical supplies as needed.
* Compile necessary reports/statistical data concerning care provided.
* Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
* Develop policies and procedures; act as a resource person for decisions, planning, and policies affecting the health of students.
* Provide a written collaborative agreement that outlines the working relationship of the nurse practitioner with the collaborating physician.
* Fulfill such other duties as assigned by supervisor.
* Monitor compliance with immunization regulations for tetanus/diphtheria, measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) as well as tuberculosis (PPD or chest x-ray).
* Communication:
* Collaborate with employees from the Counseling Services, Campus Safety, Student Success Center, and Residence Life regarding student concerns.
* Communicate with employees campus-wide to maintain safety on campus
* Supervision:
* Supervise regular and student employees to include interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work, coaching, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
* Must have a mindset of mentoring employees under supervision. Should be able to lead in a way that sets a good example, promotes teamwork, and encourages a positive, efficient work environment.
* Be an active member of the Student Development department.

* Job Requirements – Administrative:
* General: Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed or are able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations in order to safely perform the essential responsibilities of the job.
* Physical: Must be able to perform the following: talking, hearing, and seeing. Must have sufficient manual dexterity to be able to operate all office equipment including, but not limited to: computers, fax machines, copy machines, modems, and telephones. Able to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
* Confidentiality: Individuals must recognize that management of data, including personal information, grades, budgets, programs and policies is necessary to the operation of the College. Such information must be kept private and confidential for the protection of the College and to obey Federal and/or State laws. POSITION REQUIREMENTS
* Minimum:
* Board Certification or eligible for Board Certification as a licensed nurse practitioner in the state of Pennsylvania.
* Licensure as registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required.
* Master’s Degree (MS) or Master of Science in Nursing degree (MSN).
* Three to five years of effective clinical experience in college health nursing, emergency care, or related field.
* CPR/First Aid Certification required.
* Christian Commitment: Eligible candidates must be a thoughtful and articulate Christian and an active member of an evangelical Christian church. Preference will be given to candidates who support and have an articulate understanding of the Reformed faith. The individual must understand and support the College’s “Foundational Concepts of Christian Education” by expressing an evangelical Christian profession of faith and demonstrate the ability to integrate a Christian perspective in their work.
