[1] Church of Scotland General Assembly Votes 339 to 215 to Allow Ministers to Enter into Homosexual Marriages

A 21 May 2016 Christian Today article by Ruth Gledhill titled “Church of Scotland Votes in Favour of Ministers in Gay Marriages” reports that the 2016 General Assembly of the Church of Scotland meeting in Edinburgh voted 339 to 215 to allow Kirk ministers to enter into homosexual marriages.

The Kirk’s principal clerk the Very Rev. John Chalmers commented:

“We had a debate which made very clear that we were not interfering with our theological definition of marriage and were not going to the place where ministers or deacons could themselves conducting same sex marriages.

“It is an entirely different discussion….”
