Practice Stewardship

A Kingdom Catechism

The first commandment guides us in the way of good stewardship.

Q 52: How do the redeemed of the Lord practice faithful stewardship?

A 52: The redeemed practice faithful stewardship by receiving every good gift from God with gratitude, and working diligently with their time, talents, and treasure to return glory to God in all things. (Jas. 1:17; 1 Thess. 5:18; Ps. 90:12; Eph. 5:15-17; 1 Pet. 4:10, 11)

Everything in and about our lives is a gift from God. We possess nothing in and of ourselves, and we deserve nothing but wrath in this life. Thus, that our lives are filled with so many good things each day is dramatic testimony to the steadfast love and faithfulness of God, Whose grace sustains us in all things.

But until we recognize this we will not be likely to give thanks for all aspects of our lives or to seek ways of using everything in the service and for the praise of God. By increasing thanksgiving for all things, and by making the most of all our opportunities and time for the cause of Christ and His Kingdom, we may improve our stewardship of all things for the Lord.
