The Seventh Commandment

A Kingdom Catechism

All unlawful sexual activity is contrary to the will of God.

Q 100: What is the seventh commandment?

A 100: The seventh commandment is, “You shall not commit adultery.” (Exod. 20:14; Deut. 5:18)

The seventh commandment intends to guide human beings into the proper enjoyment and use of sexual relationships, according to God’s plan for our good. The seventh commandment marks out the parameters within which sexual activity may be engaged according to the purposes and the divine economy, for the honor of God and the benefit of all people. God is the designer of sexuality, and He knows best how people should engage in sexual activity for the benefit both of individuals and the community as a whole. His Law reflects both God’s wisdom concerning human sexuality and His good plan for our lives together.
