A Generation of Truth-Tellers

Exodus 20:16

“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.”

In a day when it seems like almost everybody feels free to bend or ignore the truth, Christians must resolve to be a people committed to the ninth commandment and all it requires. The truth will shine like the beauty of heaven from the midst of the Christian community only if each one of us makes it his business to follow God’s will in this matter.

Is there room for improvement in this area of your walk with the Lord? How circumspect are you throughout the day in this matter of telling the truth to God and your neighbors? How do you maintain sensitivity to the Holy Spirit when He may want to convict of some transgression of truth?

We must each be vigilant in this matter, to be faithful at all times to God’s truth. Seek the Lord in this, and listen for Him throughout the day. Ask Him to help you to know the truth, love the truth, think the truth, and then live and speak it at all times.

God can guide you in the best ways of speaking truth with love. No matter the cost, the course of truth is the path that God will bless. Test Him on this and see.

Write out a prayer to remind yourself from time to time throughout the day to be careful and diligent in telling the truth.
