The Sixth Commandment

You shall not murder

God has made men in His image, and He alone is the Lord of life. We may not unlawfully deprive men of the gift of life; rather, we must do everything in our power to protect and preserve the lives and wellbeing of others.

Exodus 20:13

“You shall not murder.”

Deuteronomy 5:17

“‘You shall not murder.’”

6.1 You shall not hate

We must not allow hate, in any form, to take root in our hearts or come to expression in our lives.

Leviticus 19:17, 18

“You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason frankly with your neighbor, lest you incur sin because of him. You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.”

Psalm 66:18; Matthew 5:21-24; Luke 6:27, 28; James 4:11, 12; 1 John 2:9-11; 1 John 3:15
