Fulfilling the Seventh Commandment

A Kingdom Catechism

All-out vigilance required.

Q 103: How do they who have been redeemed fulfill the seventh commandment?

A 103: The redeemed of the Lord fulfill the seventh commandment by guarding against all lust and voyeurism, keeping the marriage bed holy, and enforcing God’s justice against all adultery. (Matt. 5:27, 28; Lev. 18:6-18; Lev. 20:10; Exod. 22:16, 17; Lev. 20:13; Lev. 18:23; 1 Cor. 5)

The seventh commandment addresses sexual activity in the soul and body. We are fulfilling God’s good plan for us, and keeping the seventh commandment, when we guard our affections against sinful sexual desires and our lives against unlawful sexual activity. Sex between men and women is good and according to the divine economy, but only within the framework of marriage. All other enticements and opportunities for sexual indulgence must be resisted and denied.
