The Eighth Commandment

A Kingdom Catechism

God is Lord of all property, and we are His stewards.

Q 109: What is the eighth commandment?

A 109: The eighth commandment is, “You shall not steal.”(Exod. 20:15; Deut. 5:19)

The eighth commandment ensures that each person shall be allowed to possess personal property and to use that property as a trust from the Lord. No one has the right to violate the property rights of others. To do so is to sin against God, by, in effect, condemning His manner of distributing property, and against our neighbor, by obstructing his right of property and practice of stewardship.
