“But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.” [Ezekiel 33:6]
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” [Ephesians 6:12]

The editor receives text messages and emails for things such as traffic alerts and severe weather from the emergency management people for Rockbridge County, Virginia, which includes the current home of the Christian Observer – Lexington, Virginia.
At 9:12 p.m. EDT the evening of 21 April 2015 as the editor prepared the 22 April 2015 issue of Presbyterians Week, the following email message was received from said emergency management folks:
“Be advised there is a large military training exercise taking place in the County [of Rockbridge], [the] City of Lexington and [the] City of Buena Vista tonight. Do not be alarmed to low flying aircraft and or emergency crew presence. Please do not call 911 to report them in the area. There is NO THREAT to public safety….
“Sent…to Residents of [the] City of Buena Vista, Residents of [the] City of Lexington, Rockbridge County Residents, Town of Glasgow Residents…”
Rockbridge County, Virginia, is in the mountains of western Virginia, and is one of the most sparsely populated counties in the Commonwealth.
The editor wonders if some of the participants in the upcoming Jade Helm (http://www.wnd.com/2015/04/military-ops-on-u-s-soil-raise-martial-law-fears/) military exercises jumped the gun by a few weeks and by 2000 or so miles.

“Thank you for your continued prayers for Dr. Sproul. The doctors did confirm a stroke occurred but we are thankful to God that there is no paralysis. In fact, he is very alert, feeling well, and resting comfortably. And the hospital staff is enjoying his sense of humor.”
The editor shares his joy at this announcement, and asks Presbyterians Week readers to continue prayers for Dr. Sproul’s full recovery.

[2] Free Church of Scotland Moderator-Elect Says “The Church of Scotland Is Literally Dying”
A 20 April 2015 Press and Journal article by Rita Campbell titled “Free Church Moderator: “The Church of Scotland is Literally Dying” reports that Free Church of Scotland moderator-elect the Rev. David Robertson states that the Church of Scotland is “literally dying” and is in a state of “theological and moral decline” because of dwindling congregations, the departure of ministers, and confusion over issues such as homosexual marriage.
Kirk leaders disagree, saying that Robertson’s assessment bears little resemblance to reality.

“You can truly grieve for every officer who’s been lost in the line of duty in this country, and still be troubled by cases of police overreach. Those two ideas are not mutually exclusive. You can have great regard for law enforcement and still want them to be held to high standards.” – Jon Stewart
