Churches of the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan along with victims marked during the last week of February 2013 the 66th anniversary of the 28 February 1947 beginning of the ‘228 Massacre’ where anti-government protests were violently suppressed by the Kuomintang government, killing an estimated 10,000 to 30,000 people.
At a 28 February 2013 memorial service at Fengshan Presbyterian Church, Hsin-Hsing Presbyterian Church elder Hsiao Chiung-chen described how her father Hsiao Chao-chin in early 1947 was the pastor of Kangshan Presbyterian Church. During the protests and the government crackdown, the pastor was comforting people and helping stranded students find shelter in churches. His efforts to help students were considered by authorities as “hiding rioters” and he was subsequently arrested, tortured, and executed by shooting. Pastor Hsiao believed in God to the very end and refused to bow to soldiers when asked. He said that he would bow to God alone and was executed in a sitting position instead of a kneeling position.

[4] The Heroic Boldness of Martin Luther by Dr. Steve Lawson Available from Reformation Trust
During the Protestant Reformation of the sixteenth century, the Reformers’ most effective tool was the pulpit, and all of the Reformers were gifted preachers. This was especially true of Martin Luther, the man regarded as the father of the Reformation.
Luther used every legitimate means to make known the truths of Scripture. His strategies included writing books, tracts, pamphlets, and letters, as well as classroom lectures, public debates, and heated disputations in churches and universities. But his chief means of producing reform was the pulpit, where he proclaimed the truths of God’s Word with great courage. In a day when the church greatly needed to hear the truth, Luther’s pulpit became one of the most clarion sounding boards for God’s Word this world has ever witnessed.
In The Heroic Boldness of Martin Luther, Dr. Steven J. Lawson shows the convictions and practices that fed Luther’s pulpit boldness, providing an example for all preachers in a day when truth once more is in decline.
The book is available in hardcover for US$12.80 plus shipping, MOBI (eBook Download) for US$7.20, and ePub (eBook Download) for US$12.80.

[5] New Publications from the Trinity Foundation
The Trinity Foundation is pleased to announce the publication of What Is the Christian Life? by Gordon H. Clark. What Is the Christian Life? combines the second editions of Sanctification and Today’s Evangelism: Counterfeit or Genuine into one volume on the Christian life. This new volume also includes two essays by Dr. Clark – “Sanctification” and “The Christian and the Law” as appendices to Sanctification. What Is the Christian Life? is 344 pages and retails for US$12.95 and is also part of our 2013 Inventory Reduction Sale. What Is the Christian Life? is apropos today with the many errors concerning sanctification, the Gospel and its proclamation permeating Evangelicalism and even the Reformed churches today.
Additionally, the latest Trinity Review has been published – “Rome’s Sham ‘Year of Faith’ Is Unfaithful to Christ and His Gospel” by Richard Bennett and Timothy Kauffman. With the resignation of Benedict XVI effective February 28, 2013, Rome will no doubt continue its program of bringing back “Separated Brethren” to the fold of the Roman Catholic Church-State, no matter who the next Pope is. The call of the Bible is clear to all Bible believers: “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord” (2 Corinthians 6:17); and “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues” (Revelation 18:4).
