The Example of Believers

A Kingdom Catechism

Believers show the way to true hope.

Q 25:    How does the example of believers benefit nonbelievers?

A 25:    Believers who sanctify Christ as Lord and walk according to His Law demonstrate hope and work for justice and righteousness in the world. (1 Pet. 3:15; 1 Jn. 2:1-6; Mic. 4:1-5; Jer. 29:7; Deut. 16:19, 20)

People are ever seeking “hope and change” in the belief that they can improve their circumstances and lives. But apart from God people have no lasting and abiding hope (Eph. 2:12) but cling instead to the false promises and flimsy hopes their minds imagine as in their best interest. These result only in fleeting experiences of change, leaving people disappointed, discouraged, and disillusioned.

The Christian lives for better promises and according to the hope of glory which is ours in Jesus Christ (Rom. 5:1, 2). As we live out this hope, walking in the paths Jesus walked (1 Jn. 2:1-6), the world will take note. As Christians continue in the paths of God’s Law, they will have abundant opportunities to influence the lives and laws of the societies in which they live, and to work for the peace and wellbeing of all (Jer. 29:7).
