The Law of God for Daily Meditation
Morning Meditation
Leviticus 19:3
“[Every one of you shall] keep my Sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.”
Leviticus 19:30
You shall keep my Sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.”
Leviticus 26:2
“You shall keep my Sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.”
My body is a sanctuary to the Lord. How can keeping the Lord’s Day help in reverencing my body? The Lord’s Church is also His Body. How can I reverence the Body of Christ this Lord’s Day?
Evening Meditation
Leviticus 23:4-6
4 “These are the feasts of the LORD, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at their appointed times 5 On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight is the LORD’s Passover. 6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the LORD; seven days you must eat unleavened bread.”
Exodus 23:14-17
14 “Three times you shall keep a feast to Me in the year: 15 You shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread (you shall eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month of Abib, for in it you came out of Egypt; none shall appear before Me empty); 16 and the Feast of Harvest, the firstfruits of your labors which you have sown in the field; and the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you have gathered in the fruit of your labors from the field. 17 Three times in the year all your males shall appear before the Lord GOD.”
Exodus 34:22-24
22 “And you shall observe the Feast of Weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the Feast of Ingathering at the year’s end.
23 “Three times in the year all your men shall appear before the Lord, the LORD God of Israel. 24 For I will cast out the nations before you and enlarge your borders; neither will any man covet your land when you go up to appear before the LORD your God three times in the year.”
Leviticus 23:9-11
9 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 10 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘When you come into the land which I give to you, and reap its harvest, then you shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest to the priest. 11 He shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted on your behalf; on the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.”
Leviticus 23:15, 16
15 “‘And you shall count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering: seven Sabbaths shall be completed. 16 Count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall offer a new grain offering to the LORD.’”
Why are communal celebrations like this important? Why does God command them? What should I gain from these times of celebration—Christmas, Easter, Pentecost, and even Thanksgiving? How can I prepare better for them throughout the year?
