Fulfilling the Third Commandment
A Kingdom Catechism
Believers must actively seek to bear fruit for God.
Q 67: How do they who have been redeemed fulfill the third commandment?
A 67: The redeemed of the Lord fulfill the third commandment by walking in all the ways of God, taking care not to profane His Name, and fulfilling all their vows. (Lev. 24:15, 16; Num. 30:1, 2; Eccl. 5:1-7)
Living fruitfully means living in the Spirit of God, for Whom the Law of God is the “core curriculum” of His disciple-making mission (Ezek. 36:26, 27). Believers must let the Word of Christ dwell in them richly (Col. 3:16) so that they may bear the fruit of that Word in every good work. They must take care that their lives do not become a source of dishonor to the Lord, and that they fulfill all the vows they have spoken relating to their love for and devotion to Him.
