Keeping the Marriage Bed Holy

A Kingdom Catechism

Focus all sexual activity on marriage alone.

Q 105: How do the redeemed of the Lord keep the marriage bed holy?

A 105: The redeemed of the Lord keep the marriage bed holy by each partner in the marriage fulfilling his or her marital obligations and by concentrating all their sexual affections on their marriage partner. (1 Cor. 7:1-5; Prov. 5:7-19)

If this instruction were taught children from an early age, and if parents were able to demonstrate obedience to and joy in keeping the seventh commandment, then the bridling of lust and the taming of our hearts would not be nearly as great a challenge as it is today. We cannot give mere lip-service to sex-within-marriage-alone as an ideal. We must discipline ourselves and train our young people to direct all their sexual desires toward rich and fruitful expression within marriage alone. Think of the social problems that would be alleviated, and the great good which all members of our society would enjoy, if Christians were to take the lead in taking the seventh commandment seriously.
