Not That Way!
The Law of God for Daily Meditation

Morning Meditation

Exodus 23:23-25, 32, 33

23“For My angel will go before you and bring you in to the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites and the Hivites and the Jebusites; and I will cut them off. 24You shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do according to their works, but you shall utterly overthrow them and completely break down their sacred pillars. 25So you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you…. 32You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods…. 33They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against Me. For if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.”

No compromise with the false gods of secularism! No compromise with the false gods of hedonism! No compromise—period! How will I protect myself against the false gods of this age today? How can I encourage my fellow Christians to remain true to the Lord?

Evening Meditation
Deuteronomy 12:2-4

2 “You shall utterly destroy all the places where the nations which you shall dispossess served their gods, on the high mountains and on the hills and under every green tree. 3 And you shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and burn their wooden images with fire; you shall cut down the carved images of their gods and destroy their names out of that place. 4 You shall not worship the LORD your God with such things.”

Deuteronomy 12:29-31

29 “When the LORD your God cuts off before you the nations which you go to dispossess, and you displace them and dwell in their land, 30 take heed to yourself that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, ‘How did these nations serve their gods? I also may do likewise.’ 31 You shall not worship the LORD your God in that way; for every abomination to the LORD which He hates they have done to their gods; for they even burn their sons and their daughters in the fire to their gods.”

Pray for the lost people in your life—neighbors, friends, co-workers. Pray that they may escape the snares of the gods of this secular age. Pray that God will give you opportunities to reach out to them with the Good News of Jesus.
