Repairing the Hedge

Exodus 20:14

“You shall not commit adultery.”

All the laws related to the seventh commandment put up a hedge against sinful sexual inclinations, restraining the wanton and protecting the innocent while honoring the plan and purpose of God for sex.

In our day we have allowed this hedge to fall into disrepair, not just in our society, but in our homes and churches, and we have done so to our peril. We are fools to think we can break down the hedges God has established for us and still know the full and abundant life He has in store.

We need to repair this hedge, beginning in our homes, and with our young people, and carrying over into every area of life in the Body of Christ where sex is flaunted or sexual compromise may have established a presence.

Failure to do so will mean an increase of divine displeasure, disapproval, and discipline.

What is one thing you could begin to do at home to recover the sanctity of sex? In your church?

Daily meditation in the Law of God helps us along the path of holiness, righteousness, and goodness (Rom. 7:12).
