The Basis for the Ninth Commandment
A Kingdom Catechism
Set free from the lies of sin, we must ever seek to live for the truth.
Q 119: What is the basis for the ninth commandment?
A 119: The basis for the ninth commandment is God being Truth, and Truth being that which sets men free from the bondage of sin, we must ever live and speak the Truth in love to all men. (John 14:6; John 8:32; Eph. 4:15)
Christians have been redeemed and liberated from the lies of the devil, and from all deception or misleading of others. It is inconsistent with the freedom we have in Jesus Christ to compromise truth in any way. Living in truth and speaking truth keep us in the path with Jesus, Who does all things well and causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him. We cannot refract the truth of Christ, nor expect to know the blessings of His favor, when we play fast and loose with the truth.
