The Gift of Sex

.

Praise God for the beauty and mystery of sex, and for His wisdom in sanctifying it.

.

Read Exodus 20:14

.

“You shall not commit adultery.”

.

If we do nothing to roll back the floodtide of sexual adventurism and repair the hedge of the seventh commandment, we will never be able to realize the full beauty of this great gift as God intended it. Review all this week’s meditations on the seventh commandment. Ask the Lord to convict you of any ways you have violated or are compromising this part of His Law. Seek grace for renewal in heart, mind, and conscience, and commit yourself to doing whatever you can to rebuild this hedge.

.

Pray

.

Lord, all the world seems crazy for sex. It has become for so many people just a game, a “harmless diversion,” even a right. But You warn us that misuse of the gift of sex is a deadly corrosive to self-image, relationships, and social order. Do not let me contribute to this destructive tendency, O Lord! Use me wherever I may be used to restore the sanctity and beauty of the gift of sex.
