The Promise of God’s Law

A Kingdom Catechism

God’s Law promises life to all who walk in it.

Q 19:    What is the promise of the Law of God?

A 19:    The promise of the Law of God is that all who walk in obedience to it will know life, peace, joy, and hope, and will evidence the glory of God. (Deut. 19:8-10; Ps. 19:4-7; 2 Cor. 3:12-18)

Jesus walked according to the Law of God, as we have seen. All those who believe in Him and profess to be His followers should also walk as He walked (1 Jn. 2:1-6). However, our obedience to God’s Law being a work of the indwelling Spirit of God, Who forms us into the image of our Lord Jesus Christ, we cannot in any way take credit for, and we must not boast about, any presumed righteousness of our own. Let him who boasts boast only in the Lord, Who fulfills the promise of the Law in us by grace through faith.
