You Belong to God – The Third Commandment

You Belong to God

Always remember: you belong to God. Bear His Name gloriously!

Read Exodus 20:7

“You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.”

Review each of the meditations from the past week.  God alone is God; He alone is worthy of our worship.  As we worship Him and draw closer to Him, He transforms us into the image of His Son, Whose Name – Christians – we bear before the watching world.  Let us bear that Name with joy and honor, serving others in such a way that they will not be able to deny this power at work within us making all things new, and turning the world upside-down.

Pray

Lord, I would take Your Name with joy, honor, and glory!  Remind me day by day of the great privilege it is to know You, and to have the Name of Jesus upon me.  Help me to prepare to live out the requirements of this commandment faithfully each day.  Give me the heart of a servant, and use me to advance the knowledge of Your glory through loving service to others.  You have called me to Yourself, and I am Yours!  I am not my own.  Make me what You will, and send me wherever You desire.
