Begin Here

Prayer is the starting-place for honoring others.

Read Exodus 20:12

“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.”

Review each of the meditations from the past week. Today would be a good day to focus on praying for those you are called to honor – parents, employers, civil magistrates, church leaders, family members, neighbors, friends, people far and near. Certainly we honor others by bringing them before the Lord in prayers of thanksgiving and intercession. It’s a great way to begin focusing more consistently on others, so that you might honor them in everyday ways.

Pray

Thank You, Lord, for the many people You have put in my life. Teach me to honor them day by day. Enable me to show Your steadfast love and faithfulness to them – even those who scorn You and are not particularly friendly to me. Give me a ready mind, that I might remember to honor others, and abundant grace, to discover new ways of doing so. And let me now grow weary in well-doing.
